Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing immediate pre-hospital and emergency medical care to patients during medical emergencies, accidents, and patient transfers. The EMT assists in stabilizing patients, administering basic life support, and ensuring safe transportation while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide pre-hospital emergency care.
- Assess patients' condition and perform initial evaluation of injuries or illnesses.
- Administer Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid as per established protocols.
- Monitor vital signs and document patient information accurately.
- Assist doctors and nurses during emergency procedures and patient resuscitation.
- Safely transport patients within the hospital or via ambulance when required.
- Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment, including oxygen delivery systems, suction devices, and defibrillators.
- Ensure ambulance readiness by checking equipment, medications, and supplies.
- Maintain infection control and patient safety standards during all procedures.
- Complete patient care reports and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate effectively with emergency department staff, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in emergency drills, training programs, and continuing education activities.
