About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Engineer to join our team and support quality assurance activities across our fabrication shop floor. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring that products meet customer specifications — including those of OEM partners like Terex — as well as applicable industry and regulatory standards, from raw material inspection through to final dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures for fabricated steel components and assemblies
- Conduct in-process, first-article, and final inspection of welded and fabricated parts against engineering drawings and customer specifications
- Perform dimensional inspection using standard measuring instruments (vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM where applicable)
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and welding specifications (WPS/WPQR)
- Monitor welding quality including visual inspection and coordination of NDT (DPT, MPT, UT) as required
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific quality requirements, including OEM (e.g., Terex) quality standards and supplier quality manuals
- Investigate non-conformances, initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and maintain root cause analysis documentation
- Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and traceability documentation (material test certificates, calibration records, etc.)
- Support internal audits and customer/OEM quality audits; coordinate closure of audit findings
- Coordinate with production, design, and procurement teams to resolve quality issues and reduce rejection/rework rates
- Support export shipment quality documentation and compliance requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA, and SPC
- Calibration management of measuring and test equipment
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy, or a related engineering discipline
- 2–6 years of experience in quality engineering within a steel fabrication, sheet metal, welding, or heavy engineering environment
- Strong working knowledge of welding processes (MIG/MAG, arc welding) and fabrication quality standards
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and welding symbols
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems; exposure to OEM-specific supplier quality requirements (Terex, or similar heavy equipment OEMs) is a strong plus
- Hands-on experience with inspection instruments and basic NDT awareness
- Good documentation, reporting, and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office/Excel; ERP exposure preferred
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience supplying to OEMs in construction equipment, material handling, or heavy machinery industries
- Exposure to CAPA systems, 8D reporting, and supplier quality audits
- Knowledge of welding inspection certifications (e.g., CSWIP/AWS) is an added advantage
