This Position reports to:
Global Engineering Manager
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.
The work model for the role is # LI - Hybrid.
This role is contributing to the to the Process Automation business in Energy Industries division based in Bangalore, India.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Act as a technical SME and advisor for the team, providing guidance on complex technical matters, reviewing bids, approving DCS and Safety proposals, and ensuring smooth project handover to operations.
Lead and support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals, ensuring compliance with ABB bid processes, customer requirements, and internal governance guidelines.
Partner with Sales teams and customers to develop technically sound, cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose Automation, DCS, and Safety solutions that support order booking and business growth.
Engage in customer discussions, technical presentations, workshops, and negotiations, providing expert product, solution, and service support and define solution costs, coordinating with procurement and suppliers, and ensure competitive pricing for bids and proposals.
Deliver high-quality bid documentation within defined timelines and actively participate in bid kick-off and review processes.
Conduct competitor and market analysis to understand customer needs, strengthen proposal positioning, and improve win rates.
Perform win/loss analysis, identify key success factors and gaps, and recommend actions to enhance future bidding outcomes.

Qualifications for the role:
15+ years of experience in bidding, tendering, and proposal management for ICSS, DCS, Safety, and Cybersecurity solutions within Energy industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Petrochemicals, and Refining.
Strong design engineering background in control systems and safety systems for offshore and onshore applications and Knowledge of ABB automation platforms such as 800xA and/or Symphony.
Proven experience managing complex local and international automation projects and delivering customer-focused technical solutions and Ability to interpret and analyze P&IDs and PFDs.
Good understanding of industry standards, market requirements, commercial considerations, and costing methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and global cross-functional teams in multicultural environments.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with a structured, quality-focused, and team-oriented approach.
BE/B.Tech in Electronics, Control Systems, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
