Holiday Consultant (also called a Travel/Holiday Sales Consultant) role:
Job Title: Holiday Consultant
Role Purpose
Advise customers on holiday packages, flights, and accommodation, and convert enquiries into bookings while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Consult with customers (in person, phone, or online) to understand travel preferences, budget, and requirements
Recommend and sell holiday packages, flights, accommodation, transfers, insurance, and add-ons
Build bespoke itineraries for individual or group travel
Process bookings accurately using booking/reservation systems (e.g., GDS, Amadeus, Galileo)
Meet and exceed individual sales targets and KPIs
Stay current on destinations, visa/passport requirements, and travel advisories
Handle customer queries, amendments, cancellations, and complaints
Upsell relevant products (excursions, upgrades, travel insurance)
Maintain strong supplier and tour operator relationships
Requirements
Previous experience in travel sales or customer service (often 1–2+ years)
Strong destination knowledge and genuine passion for travel
Excellent communication, negotiation, and sales skills
Proficiency with booking systems/CRM software
Target-driven with strong attention to detail
Flexibility to work weekends/evenings/retail hours (for retail-based roles)
Desirable
Relevant travel & tourism qualification
Foreign language skills
Personal travel experience across multiple regions
