The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.
In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.
In this context we are seeking a reliable and organised Library Staff member to support the daily operations of our school library. The role involves managing library resources, assisting students and staff with finding and using books and materials, maintaining records, and ensuring the library is an inviting place for learning and reading.
Requisites
- A diploma or degree in Library Science / Library & Information Services / Education is an advantage.
- Prior experience working in a library, educational institution, or similar environment preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience with library operations (circulation, shelving, cataloguing) is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with circulation tasks — issuing, returning, and shelving books and materials.
- Help students and teachers locate and use library resources effectively.
- Maintain inventory and records, including catalogue updates.
- Keep the library organised, clean, and welcoming.
- Support basic library activities, displays, and reading programmes.
- Assist with basic IT systems used in the library
Skills & Competencies
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skill and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, library management systems).
- A positive attitude and interest in promoting reading and learning.
