Senior Barista – Job Description Role Overview
The Senior Barista is responsible for delivering high-quality coffee beverages, leading daily bar operations, and mentoring junior baristas to maintain excellent customer service and product consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and beverages to company standards
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of all drinks
- Supervise and support junior baristas during shifts
- Train new staff on coffee preparation, equipment use, and service standards
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the workspace and equipment
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in stock ordering
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- Assist in opening and closing duties of the café
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a barista (2–4+ years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and equipment
- Leadership and team management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and consistency
- Basic understanding of inventory and stock control
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in coffee/barista training (optional but preferred)
- Experience with specialty coffee and latte art
- Prior experience in a supervisory role
