Job Purpose
To supervise and manage all welding activities in the production shop, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity in line with company standards and automotive manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily welding operations (MIG, TIG, Spot, Robotic welding if applicable)
- Ensure production targets are achieved with required quality standards
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols
- Monitor welding parameters, consumables, and equipment usage
- Ensure adherence to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and quality standards
- Conduct inspection of weld joints and coordinate with QA/QC team
- Identify welding defects and implement corrective actions
- Maintain welding records, logs, and traceability documentation
- Manage manpower, allocate work, and monitor performance
- Train and guide welders on proper techniques and safety practices
- Ensure proper maintenance of welding machines and tools
- Implement 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices
- Ensure strict compliance with safety norms (PPE, fire safety, hot work permits)
- Coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance departments Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, and assembly processes
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and tolerances
- Knowledge of welding defects, inspection methods, and quality standards
- Leadership and team management skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Familiarity with automotive manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or Welding Technology
- Welding certification (preferred)
Experience
- 3–6 years experience in welding/fabrication
- Minimum 1–2 years in supervisory role
- Experience in automotive or auto-component industry preferred
Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of MIG/CO₂ welding, spot welding, and robotic welding (if applicable)
- Understanding of ISO / IATF quality systems
- Ability to handle shift operations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
