Job Title: Quality Control Engineer
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all engines received, inspected, refurbished (if applicable), and delivered by the company meet defined quality standards and customer specifications. The role involves inspection, testing, documentation, and coordination with suppliers and internal teams to maintain product reliability and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Incoming Inspection
- Inspect engines and engine components received from suppliers or import shipments.
- Verify part numbers, specifications, and physical condition against purchase orders and quality standards.
- Identify defects such as leakage, cracks, wear, corrosion, or missing components.
2. Functional Testing
- Conduct performance and functionality checks on engines where applicable.
- Monitor parameters such as compression, oil pressure, vibration, and noise levels.
- Ensure engines meet operational standards before dispatch.
3. Quality Documentation
- Maintain inspection reports, quality checklists, and testing records.
- Prepare quality reports for management and customers.
- Maintain traceability records for engine serial numbers and batches.
4. Supplier Quality Control
- Evaluate quality of engines from different suppliers.
- Report recurring issues and coordinate with procurement for corrective actions.
- Assist in supplier audits and quality improvement initiatives.
5. Dispatch Quality Assurance
- Ensure engines are properly cleaned, packed, and protected before shipment.
- Verify correct documentation, labeling, and packaging standards.
6. Non-Conformance Handling
- Identify and isolate defective engines or parts.
- Initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate with technical teams for repair or refurbishment decisions.
7. Continuous Improvement
- Suggest improvements in inspection processes and quality standards.
- Support implementation of quality systems such as ISO 9001 if applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Automobile Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in engine inspection, quality control, or automotive industry.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of diesel and petrol engine components.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with inspection tools (vernier caliper, micrometer, bore gauge, etc.).
- Understanding of quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
