Job Summary
The Optician is responsible for assisting patients in selecting appropriate frames and lenses, dispensing spectacles, ensuring accurate measurements, maintaining optical inventory, and delivering excellent customer service while supporting hospital revenue and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist patients in selecting suitable frames and lenses based on prescription and lifestyle needs.
* Interpret ophthalmologist and optometrist prescriptions accurately.
* Take optical measurements including PD (Pupillary Distance), fitting height, and frame adjustments.
* Dispense spectacles and ensure proper fitting and comfort.
* Educate patients regarding lens options, coatings, and spectacle care.
* Coordinate with lens vendors and laboratories for order processing.
* Maintain optical inventory, stock records, and reorder levels.
* Ensure proper display and upkeep of frames and optical products.
* Achieve monthly sales and revenue targets for the optical department.
* Handle billing, documentation, and patient records related to optical sales.
* Address patient queries and resolve complaints professionally.
* Follow hospital policies, quality standards, and infection control practices.
Qualifications
* Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry or relevant qualification.
* 1–8years of experience in optical retail or hospital opticals preferred.
* Knowledge of lenses, frames, and optical dispensing.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Basic computer knowledge and billing software proficiency.
