Job Purpose
To prepare, program, and optimize CNC laser cutting programs based on engineering drawings and production requirements, ensuring accurate, efficient, and quality-focused cutting operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Laser Cutting Programming
- Create CNC laser cutting programs based on 2D drawings, CAD files, and production requirements.
- Develop cutting layouts and optimize nesting to minimize material wastage.
- Select appropriate cutting parameters based on material type, thickness, and machine specifications.
- Modify and optimize existing programs whenever required.
2. Drawing & Technical Understanding
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Verify component dimensions and cutting requirements before releasing programs for production.
- Coordinate with the Design and Production teams to resolve drawing or programming issues.
3. Machine & Production Support
- Transfer and verify programs in the laser cutting machine control system.
- Support operators during machine setup, job loading, and program execution.
- Monitor first-piece cutting and make necessary programming corrections.
- Ensure production schedules are supported through timely program preparation.
4. Quality & Process Control
- Ensure cut components meet drawing specifications and required tolerances.
- Identify programming-related defects such as incorrect dimensions, incomplete cuts, or excessive burrs.
- Coordinate with Quality and Production teams for rectification and continuous improvement.
5. Material & Cost Optimization
- Optimize nesting and cutting sequences to reduce sheet-metal wastage.
- Maintain proper utilization of available materials.
- Suggest improvements to reduce cycle time, consumable usage, and production costs.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of CNC laser cutting programming and nesting.
- Ability to read engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of sheet-metal materials and thicknesses.
- Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
- Understanding of laser cutting parameters and cutting processes.
- Good problem-solving and production coordination skills.
Qualification & Experience
- Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience: 1–5 years in CNC laser cutting programming/operations, preferably in sheet-metal fabrication.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
