Computer Operator: Core Job Description
A Computer Operator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a company's computer systems and networks. They ensure that hardware and software function correctly, monitor system performance, and perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- System Monitoring: Observing console screens to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, responding to error messages or hardware malfunctions.
- Data Management: Managing data backups and recovery operations to ensure business continuity.
- Hardware Maintenance: Setting up and configuring hardware such as printers, servers, and terminals; performing basic troubleshooting when equipment fails.
- Job Scheduling: Running automated tasks, batch jobs, and system updates according to a strict operational schedule.
- Security & Compliance: Monitoring system access for security breaches and ensuring all operations adhere to company protocols and data privacy regulations.
- Documentation: Maintaining detailed logs of system activities, malfunctions, and any maintenance performed.
