Position: Bakery Commis
Department: Bakery Production
Reports To: Head Baker / Bakery Chef
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and production of bakery items such as breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and desserts.
- Follow standard recipes and production schedules.
- Measure, mix, knead, shape, and bake products as instructed.
- Prepare ingredients and maintain mise en place for daily operations.
- Ensure product quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to supervisors.
- Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating bakery ingredients (FIFO).
- Support senior bakers during busy periods and special orders.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of bakery operations and baking techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Relevant bakery/hospitality qualification preferred.
Experience
- 0–2 years of experience in a bakery, café, hotel, or restaurant bakery.
