As a Senior Java Developer, you will work on and deliver high-quality applications that meet user needs and business goals. You will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and maintaining web software using modern technologies and best practices.

Design and develop high-quality Java applications using modern engineering practices with Java and Spring Boot.

Design and implement scalable microservices and secure REST APIs for customers to send data and retrieve tracking details and reports.

Develop event-driven services and integrations using Apache Kafka for efficient follow-up on shipments, invoices, customs documents, and other data.

Develop and maintain connections with external providers such as logistics companies, customs authorities, middleware solutions, and partner organisations.

Design and optimise PostgreSQL database schemas and queries, including performance tuning.

Deploy and maintain applications on AWS, including containerised deployments using Docker and infrastructure managed via Terraform.

Write clean, efficient, well-documented code adhering to best practices and design patterns.

Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews, exercising independent judgment on design and abstraction.

Collaborate with Product Leads, Architects, and DevOps engineers to refine technical solutions and estimate development work.

Mentor and guide junior developers on technical and professional best practices.

Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues.

Collaborate effectively with other developers, testers, product owners, and stakeholders.

Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., OpenAI Codex, Claude Code) to improve productivity while maintaining engineering quality and depth.

6+ years of professional experience as a Software Developer with Java and Spring Boot.

Experience with Spring Data JPA / Hibernate.

Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven/asynchronous microservices.
-
Experience with PostgreSQL (including AWS RDS PostgreSQL), SQL performance tuning, database design, and normalisation.

Working knowledge of AWS for application deployment, including ECS/ECR, S3, API Gateway, and CloudFront.

Experience with Maven for build/dependency management.

Working knowledge of Git and JIRA in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Experience developing and integrating with third-party APIs (both consuming and creating APIs).

Familiarity with common integration patterns (e.g., REST, message queues).

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns (e.g., SOLID principles, hexagonal architecture).

Excellent software design skills with strong abstraction and modelling capability, and the ability to make independent architectural decisions.

Experience already using modern AI development tools (e.g. OpenAI Codex, Claude Code) as part of daily workflow, with genuine depth on configuration, evaluation, and effective use (e.g., memory/context management, token usage, multi-agent setups) — not just prompt-level usage.

Prior experience with enterprise-scale systems and AWS infrastructure is a major plus.

Having an AWS certification is a plus.
