Job Summary
The Pharmacy Assistant supports the Pharmacy Department by assisting pharmacists in dispensing medications, maintaining inventory, receiving and storing pharmaceutical products, ensuring proper documentation, and delivering excellent customer service. The role requires accuracy, efficiency, and strict adherence to hospital policies, pharmacy regulations, and patient safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in dispensing medicines as per valid prescriptions.
- Retrieve, pack, label, and issue medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Receive, unpack, verify, and store medicines and medical consumables according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Ensure proper storage conditions, including temperature-sensitive medications and cold chain maintenance.
- Monitor medicine stock levels and report shortages to the Pharmacy In-Charge.
- Arrange medicines using the FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) inventory methods.
- Check expiry dates regularly and segregate expired, damaged, or near-expiry medicines.
- Assist in stock audits, physical inventory verification, and monthly stock reconciliation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy shelves, storage areas, and dispensing counters.
- Prepare medicines for inpatient and outpatient departments accurately and promptly.
- Assist in updating pharmacy records, stock registers, and inventory management software.
- Coordinate with the Purchase and Stores Departments regarding medicine availability and replenishment.
- Provide courteous assistance to patients and attendants while maintaining confidentiality.
- Follow infection prevention and control measures while handling medications.
- Comply with all hospital policies, pharmacy regulations, and quality standards.
- Report any medication discrepancies, stock variances, or safety concerns immediately to the Pharmacy In-Charge.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), or any relevant pharmacy qualification.
- Valid Pharmacy Council registration is preferred where applicable.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with pharmacy software are desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 0–5 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy is preferred.
- Freshers with relevant pharmacy qualifications may also be considered.

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹30,585.95 per month
