About the Role
We’re hiring an *Operations Manager* to lead end-to-end plant operations at our Ahmedabad spices manufacturing unit. You’ll own the production floor — from raw material intake to finished goods dispatch — and drive efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery every single day.
Key Responsibilities
*1. Production & Operations Oversight*
- Oversee entire operations: raw material handling, grinding, blending, sterilization, packaging, warehousing, and dispatch
- Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on sales forecasts and orders
- Ensure SOPs, hygiene standards, and FSSAI/Food Safety compliance are followed across all processes
- Monitor machine performance, minimize downtime, and coordinate with maintenance for preventive breakdowns
*2. Daily Execution & Follow-ups*
- Conduct daily production, packaging, and dispatch review meetings with shift in-charges and supervisors
- Track real-time progress against targets and resolve bottlenecks on the shop floor
- Follow up on raw material availability, labor allocation, and utility requirements
*3. Targets & Productivity*
- Meet and exceed daily and monthly targets for production volume, packaging, and dispatch
- Drive machine and labor productivity through capacity planning, line balancing, and performance monitoring
- Implement lean manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen practices to reduce waste and improve OEE
*4. Quality, Cost & Safety*
- Work closely with QA to ensure product consistency, specs, and minimal rejections
- Control production costs: raw material wastage, energy consumption, and labor efficiency
- Enforce safety protocols, PPE compliance, and conduct regular safety training/toolbox talks
*5. Team & Coordination*
- Lead and mentor production, packaging, warehouse, and maintenance teams
- Coordinate with HR, Procurement, QA, and Logistics for smooth cross-functional operations
- Prepare daily MIS reports on production, yield, downtime, and dispatch for senior management
Requirements
- B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, Food Technology, or related field
- 2-10 years experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in spices, FMCG, or food processing
- Strong knowledge of plant machinery, packaging lines, and production planning
- Proven track record of meeting production targets and improving productivity
- Proficiency in MS Excel, SAP/ERP basics, and KPI tracking
- Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills for shop-floor management
Preferred
- Experience handling large workforce and multi-shift operations
- Knowledge of food safety standards, GMP, and HACCP
