Duties and Responsibilities • Demonstrate deep expertise in Oracle Database and PL/SQL, including functions, procedures, triggers, packages, and performance tuning. • Design and optimize complex SQL and PL/SQL; analyze execution plans and tune queries for high throughput and low latency. • Develop and maintain Oracle Forms and Reports (12c), ensuring reliability, usability, and alignment with standards. • Use tools such as Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, and PuTTY effectively for development, troubleshooting, and administration tasks. • Translate business and insurance domain requirements into clear technical designs and scalable database solutions. • Troubleshoot and resolve PL/SQL defects and performance issues; perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive fixes. • Conduct peer code reviews; enforce coding standards and implement unit/integration testing for database code. • Collaborate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies; refine user stories, estimate work, and deliver incrementally with high quality. • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specs, deployment guides, and runbooks. • Communicate proactively with stakeholders, testers, and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and remove delivery blockers. • Apply Unix commands and shell scripting for automation, deployments, log analysis, and environment maintenance. • Integrate databases with internal/external services; exposure to calling web services from Oracle is desirable. • Leverage insurance domain knowledge to improve data quality, business rules, and reporting accuracy. • Mentor peers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence.
