Title: Java Engineering Lead
Location: Remote/ work from home

Job Summary
The Java Engineering Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing application development projects while managing a team of software developers and support staff. This role works closely with business users to prioritize development requests, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise in Java-based enterprise environments with proven leadership and project coordination experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage software development and support teams, including hiring, mentoring, performance evaluations, and technical guidance.
- Coordinate application development projects and manage development timelines and deliverables.
- Work with business users to review, prioritize, and assign programming requests.
- Ensure development activities follow organizational standards, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Provide oversight during system analysis, design, development, and troubleshooting activities.
- Support quality assurance efforts and maintain development best practices.
- Participate in IT planning initiatives and contribute to departmental goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities where technology solutions can improve operational efficiency.
- Manage and support enterprise application integrations and APIs.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and effective collaboration across teams.
Required Qualifications
- Recent 5+ years of people management and team leadership experience.
- Recent 2+ years of project management experience.
- Strong experience with Java development and enterprise application environments.
- Experience working with REST APIs, SOAP services, JSON, and integration technologies.
- Experience using development tools such as IntelliJ, Eclipse, or Visual Studio.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Technical Skills
- Java, REST APIs, SOAP, JSON, IntelliJ / Eclipse / Visual Studio
- Query and database management tools
- Enterprise application support and development
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AS400 environments.
- Knowledge of WebSphere.
- Experience managing enterprise application support and development teams.
