About the Role
ResQBag is a food surplus startup on a mission to reduce food waste by connecting surplus food from restaurants and vendors with consumers. Our app is nearly built, and we're now looking for a creative UI/UX or Product Designer to help us take it from functional to delightful. You'll shape how the app looks, feels, and moves — from UI concepts and micro-interactions to loading screens and overall visual polish. Strong artistic sense matters more to us than technical implementation skills; our tech team will handle the build, so you're free to focus purely on the experience and the visual craft.
Key Responsibilities
- Design UI concepts and screen flows that improve the overall look, feel, and usability of the app
- Create engaging loading screens, transitions, and micro-interactions that add personality to the product
- Design and refine animations in collaboration with the tech team for implementation
- Improve visual hierarchy, layout, and overall design consistency across the app
- Translate rough ideas or feature requirements into polished, user-friendly design concepts
- Work closely with Preetham and the tech team to receive and incorporate feedback
- Iterate on designs based on usability and product feedback through multiple rounds
- Contribute fresh visual ideas and design trends that could elevate the app experience
Required Qualifications
- A strong portfolio (Behance, Dribbble, personal website, PDF, or Figma link) demonstrating mobile app design work
- Solid understanding of mobile UX principles, visual hierarchy, and interaction design
- Comfort working independently in a remote, part-time setup
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong visual and artistic sense — layout, color, typography, composition
- Working knowledge of Figma (or willingness to learn/use it for handoff)
- Understanding of user experience fundamentals for mobile apps
- Ability to think through interaction and motion design, not just static screens
- Strong communication skills to explain design choices and take feedback well
- Self-driven and comfortable working on a part-time, remote basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with animation tools such as After Effects, Rive, or Lottie
- Prior experience designing for early-stage or fast-moving startups
- A portfolio that includes app onboarding flows, micro-interactions, or motion work
