Key Qualifications & Experience (NMC Norms):
- Educational Qualification: MD (Biochemistry) or DNB (Biochemistry) from an NMC-recognized institution.
- Teaching Experience:
- Minimum 4 years as an Assistant Professor in Biochemistry in a recognized/permitted medical college.
- Alternatively, for Non-teaching Specialists in government hospitals, 10 years of cumulative experience post-PG allows appointment as Associate Professor.
- Research Publications: At least two research publications (original papers, meta-analysis, systematic reviews, or case series) in indexed journals (Medline, PubMed, Scopus, etc.).
- Mandatory Training:
- Completion of the Basic Course in Medical Education Technology (MET).
- Completion of the Basic Course in Biomedical Research (BCBR).
- Non-Medical Faculty: Non-medical candidates (M.Sc. + PhD) can only be appointed up to the post of Assistant Professor, according to 2022 guidelines. However, those appointed prior to 1998 may have different provisions, but PhD is essential for higher posts. NMC +5
