Role Description
The Senior Resident – General Surgery role is a full-time, on-site position based at PIMS Jalandhar. The individual will perform daily ward rounds, assess and manage inpatients, and handle pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients. Responsibilities include assisting and performing surgeries under supervision, managing emergency and trauma cases, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care. The role also involves maintaining accurate medical records, participating in clinical audits, teaching junior residents and students, and engaging in departmental academic activities such as case presentations and CME programs. The Senior Resident is expected to adhere to hospital protocols, uphold ethical standards, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and completed postgraduate qualification in General Surgery (e.g., MS or DNB).
- Valid registration with the Punjab medical council and eligibility to practice in the region.
- Strong clinical skills in general surgery, including preoperative assessment, operative management, and postoperative care.
- Experience in managing surgical emergencies, trauma cases, and critical care patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other departments.
- Proficiency in maintaining medical documentation, adhering to clinical protocols, and following infection control practices.
- Commitment to continuous learning, participation in academic activities, and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Excellent communication skills, professional conduct, and a patient-centered approach to care.
