Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Paravet to assist our veterinarians in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of animal patients. The ideal candidate is hands-on, calm under pressure, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures
- Restrain and handle animals safely and calmly during procedures
- Administer medications, injections, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Monitor patients pre- and post-surgery, including anesthesia recovery
- Collect samples (blood, urine, stool) for lab testing
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment charts
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Assist with wound dressing, bandaging, and minor procedures
- Educate pet owners on basic post-treatment care and medication schedules
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in treatment and ward areas
- Assist with emergency and critical care cases as needed
Requirements
- Diploma or certification in Veterinary Science / Animal Husbandry / Paravet training (preferred)
- Prior experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital is a plus
- Comfortable handling dogs, cats, and other companion animals
- Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, common illnesses, and first aid
- Good communication skills to coordinate with vets and pet owners
- Physically fit and able to handle animals of varying temperaments
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if required
Preferred Skills
- Experience assisting in surgical procedures
- Familiarity with lab sample collection and basic diagnostic tools
- Calm, patient, and empathetic disposition with animals and their owners
