Job Summary
The Foreman (Steel & Shuttering) is responsible for supervising and executing all reinforcement steel (rebar) and shuttering/formwork activities at the construction site. The role ensures that work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules while maintaining quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesSteel Reinforcement Works
- Supervise all reinforcement steel fixing activities as per approved structural drawings.
- Verify bar bending schedules (BBS) and ensure correct cutting, bending, and placement of reinforcement.
- Ensure proper spacing, cover blocks, laps, anchorage, and development lengths.
- Coordinate with steel contractors and bar bending yard.
- Inspect reinforcement before offering it for engineer/client approval.
Shuttering/Formwork Works
- Supervise shuttering and formwork installation for columns, beams, slabs, walls, staircases, footings, and other RCC elements.
- Ensure proper alignment, levels, dimensions, supports, bracing, and stability of formwork.
- Monitor formwork stripping as per approved procedures.
- Ensure formwork materials are used efficiently and maintained properly.
Site Execution
- Allocate daily work to labour and subcontractors.
- Monitor manpower productivity and work progress.
- Coordinate with Site Engineers, QA/QC Engineers, Surveyors, and other site teams.
- Ensure construction activities are completed as per project schedule.
- Resolve day-to-day execution issues on site.
Quality Control
- Ensure all work complies with approved drawings, IS Codes, and company quality standards.
- Conduct routine inspections before concrete pouring.
- Rectify non-conformities immediately.
- Maintain workmanship standards.
Safety Responsibilities
- Enforce PPE usage by all workers.
- Ensure safe working practices during steel fixing, shuttering, and concrete preparation.
- Report unsafe conditions and accidents immediately.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
Material Management
- Monitor availability of reinforcement steel, shuttering materials, and consumables.
- Minimize wastage of steel and shuttering materials.
- Coordinate with stores for timely material requirements.
Documentation
- Maintain daily work progress reports.
- Record labour attendance and productivity.
- Assist in measurement and billing verification.
- Report completed work to the Site Engineer.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering preferred (or)
- ITI / Technical qualification with relevant construction experience.
- Higher Secondary with extensive building construction experience may also be considered
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
