Role Overview
The Disease Educator's primary responsibility is to increase awareness of vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) among parents and caregivers in outpatient clinics and hospitals. The role is educational, not clinical, and aims to encourage informed discussions between parents and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Educate parents/caregivers about vaccine-preventable diseases using only approved educational materials.
- Conduct awareness sessions in designated waiting areas before consultations.
- Address common misconceptions using approved scripts.
- Encourage parents to discuss vaccination-related questions with their treating doctor.
- Begin every interaction with a disclaimer and obtain patient consent.
- Ensure all communication is:
- Non-promotional
- Non-prescriptive
- Limited to approved disease awareness content
- Redirect all medical, diagnostic, prescription, and eligibility questions to the healthcare professional.
- Work in 2–3 clinics per day (including Saturdays), spending at least 3 hours at each clinic.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, clinic staff, and doctors while complying with all protocols and audit requirements.
Eligibility
Education
- B.Pharm
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM
- B.Sc. Nutrition & Dietetics
- Science graduate
- Related health science qualification
- Preferred: Diploma in Health Education, Community Medicine, or Counselling
Experience
- Minimum 1 year
- Preference for experience in:
- Pediatric counseling
- Immunization programs
- Pediatric patient support programs
Required Skills
- Strong communication skills in English
- Fluency in local/regional language(s)
- Ability to explain health information clearly and empathetically
- Good interpersonal and counseling skills
- High ethical standards and compliance awareness
Important Role Boundaries
The Disease Educator must not:
- Diagnose illnesses
- Provide medical advice
- Recommend or prescribe vaccines
- Determine vaccine eligibility
Instead, they should refer all clinical and prescription-related questions to the treating healthcare professional.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
