Key Responsibilities1. Quality Inspection & Process Control
- Incoming & Pre-Spray Inspection: Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming raw metals and substrates. Verify surface preparation metrics like grit-blasting profiles, surface roughness, and absolute cleanliness.
- In-Process Monitoring: Ensure thermal/plasma spray operational parameters strictly align with the approved Quality Assurance Plan (QAP).
- Post-Coating Inspection: Conduct rigorous visual and technical checks for coating anomalies like peeling, micro-cracks, porosity, overspray, and delamination.
- Measurement Testing: Measure finished coating thickness (DFT), micro/macro hardness, and surface roughness using specialized gauges.
2. Dimensional Accuracy & Metrology
- Thoroughly read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, fabrication engineering drawings, and geometrical dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Masterfully handle precision measuring tools including Vernier calipers, micrometers (inside/outside), bore gauges, height gauges, dial indicators, and coating thickness gauges.
3. Documentation, CAPA & QMS Compliance
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive inspection records, including Final Dimension Reports (FDR), Material Test Certificates (MTC), and Quality Plans.
- Identify, isolate, and tag non-conforming items; issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
- Drive root-cause analysis for quality bottlenecks and recommend Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Support and maintain documentation to comply with ISO 9001:2015 quality guidelines.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: ITI, Diploma, or B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on QA/QC experience in a thermal spray facility (Plasma, HVOF, Wire Arc), industrial surface engineering, machine shops, or heavy fabrication.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert competency in handling precision mechanical metrology instruments.
- Exceptional engineering drawing reading skills.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 systems (AS9100 or IATF 16949 awareness is a great bonus).
- Preferred: ASNT Level II certification in NDT methods (Liquid Penetrant or Magnetic Particle Testing).
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and assertive communication to manage compliance firmly with operators and supervisors on the shop floor.
