Palo Alto Firewall & Data Center Migration Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to support enterprise firewall operations and large-scale data center migration initiatives. The role will focus on Palo Alto firewall administration, policy implementation, troubleshooting, migration planning, and post-migration stabilization activities across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto technologies and proven experience supporting data center migration programs, along with foundational exposure to Zscaler.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, implement, and troubleshoot Palo Alto Networks firewalls in enterprise environments.
- Create, modify, and optimize security policies, NAT policies, and application-based controls.
- Perform firewall rule reviews and risk assessments to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, application access, routing, NAT, and firewall policy issues.
- Support firewall lifecycle management, upgrades, and migration activities.
- Analyze firewall logs and traffic flows to identify and resolve security and operational issues.
- Execute firewall and network security changes through established change management processes.
- Develop implementation plans, validation procedures, and rollback strategies for production changes.
- Participate in maintenance windows for planned implementations and migration activities.
- Document configurations, procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Support enterprise data center migration and consolidation initiatives.
- Analyze existing firewall policies and network dependencies prior to migration activities.
- Migrate and validate firewall policies, NAT configurations, and network security controls between legacy and target environments.
- Coordinate migration activities with infrastructure, network, server, and application teams.
- Support application cutovers, connectivity validation, and post-migration stabilization activities.
- Assist with IP address transitions, network re-segmentation, and security policy migration efforts.
- Provide support for Zscaler-related access requirements and connectivity troubleshooting during migration projects.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience administering Palo Alto Networks firewalls in enterprise environments.
- Strong experience in firewall policy implementation, NAT configuration, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Experience implementing and supporting firewall changes in production environments.
- Experience troubleshooting Layer 3 through Layer 7 network and security issues.
- Experience supporting enterprise data center migration projects.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, DNS, load balancing, and network security architecture.
- Experience following formal change management and operational processes.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
