Ø Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance. (GD&T symbols).
Ø Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments.
Ø Strong knowledge of welding standards (AWS/ASME) and machining tolerances (GD&T).
Ø Good understanding of ISO 9001:2015 clauses and documentation requirements.
Ø Proficiency in using MS Office (Excel, Word) for creating inspection reports
· Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving mindset, and clear cross-functional communication skills to handle both production teams and customers.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Inward Inspection
Ø Inspection of raw materials: Check visual and size inspection of raw material. Check material Test Reports for steel grades, plates, and pipes used in fabrication.
Ø Inspect bought-out parts: Validate incoming components like PLCs, sensors, pneumatic and hydraulic valves, Gearboxes and motors, Bearings against the PO and Specifications.
Ø Dimensional checks: Measure machined component using callipers, micrometres, and height gauges.
2. In-Process Quality Control
Ø Fabrication stage: Inspect fit-up, weld joint preparation, and weld bead quality before final welding.
Ø Machining stage: Check first-part approvals on CNC/VMC machines and perform periodic line audits for dimensional tolerance.
Ø Assembly stage: Monitor the mechanical and electrical assembly of machine to ensure alignment, torque limits, and proper wiring routing.
3. Testing and Final Inspection
Ø Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Coordinate or perform Dye Penetrant (DP), or Ultrasonic testing on welded structures.
Ø Geometric and alignment tests: Use dial indicators to verify machine geometry and axis movements.
Ø Functional trial runs: Oversee the dry runs, cycle-time testing, function and capability studies of conveyors, SPMs and automation logic.
4. Documentation and Compliance
Ø Quality Management Systems (QMS): Maintain documentation required for ISO 9001, CE compliance, or specific customer standards.
Ø Create reports: Generate Dimension Inspection Reports, Final Inspection Reports, and Quality Assurance Plans (QAP).
Ø Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI): Prepare the final documentation required for customer clearance before shipping.
5. Continuous Improvement
Ø Calibration: Manage the timely calibration schedule for all measuring instruments and gauges.
Ø Rework reduction: Track internal rejection data and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
