Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and language-proficient Copy Editor to review and refine educational content for school books. The ideal candidate will ensure that manuscripts are grammatically accurate, factually consistent, age-appropriate, and aligned with the prescribed curriculum while maintaining the author's original intent and style.
Key Responsibilities
- Copy edit school textbooks, workbooks educational materials.
- Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and sentence structure.
- Ensure consistency in language, tone, terminology, formatting, and style across the manuscript.
- Verify factual accuracy, dates, names, references, and cross-check content where required.
- Ensure content adheres to the prescribed curriculum and educational standards.
- Check for clarity, readability, and age-appropriate language for the target grade level.
- Review tables, captions, illustrations, and other supporting elements for accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain editorial style guides and ensure compliance throughout the publication.
- Coordinate with authors, subject matter experts, designers, and proofreaders to resolve editorial queries.
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality editorial standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in English Education, or a related field.
- Excellent command of written English with strong grammar and editing skills.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in copy editing, preferably in educational or school publishing.
- Familiarity with editorial style guides and publishing standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with school curriculum content (CBSE, ICSE, or State Boards).
- Understanding of educational publishing workflows.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of proofreading symbols and editorial markup.
