Our Client is a B2B SaaS company building AI-powered document intelligence and analytics products for Indian enterprises. they are an early-stage company with their first enterprise client live in production and additional clients in the pipeline.
Our Client is hiring a backend engineer to own and extend the server-side architecture of the platform , APIs, database design, third-party integrations, and data pipelines. This role is suited for engineers whose primary strength is backend and database engineering. Frontend contribution is welcomed when needed, but is not the core expectation.
- Design and build REST APIs that power analytics dashboards, search interfaces, reporting modules, and administrative tooling
- Design and maintain the PostgreSQL database , relational schema design, migrations, indexing strategy, query optimization, and triggers
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party platforms, including Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) and SharePoint
- Build data ingestion pipelines that consume structured data from external sources and persist it cleanly into PostgreSQL
- Implement authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant access control across the API surface
- Build background jobs, scheduled tasks, and file processing workflows
- Optimize backend performance , query tuning, caching, connection pooling, and load handling
- Manage deployments to Render, monitor production behaviour, and debug live issues
- Contribute to code reviews, particularly on backend and database changes
- Occasionally collaborate with the frontend team on API contracts and assist on small frontend changes when required
- Node.js with Express , production experience required
- Designing REST APIs with consideration for pagination, filtering, sorting, validation, error handling, and rate limiting

- Reading EXPLAIN ANALYZE output and acting on it
- Writing PostgreSQL triggers, stored procedures, and complex SQL involving multiple joins, window functions, and aggregations
- Optimizing queries on tables with large row counts
- Experience integrating with at least one major third-party platform via API
- Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) is a strong plus
- Git and GitHub PR workflows
- Deploying backend services to PaaS platforms (Render, Heroku, Railway, or equivalent)
- Daily, disciplined use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor , required. Engineers must use these tools to accelerate work while reading and understanding every line shipped.
- Working knowledge of React with Next.js , sufficient to make small UI changes, debug API integration issues from the client side, and understand the frontend code
- Not expected to own or build frontend modules end-to-end
- Live APIs, deployed services, or backend systems the candidate has shipped to Production
- GitHub repositories with non-trivial backend code
- Experience with document intelligence, OCR, or data extraction systems
- SAP, ERP, or large enterprise system integration exposure
