Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented CMM Operator with 1–2 years of experience in precision dimensional inspection using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in operating CMM equipment, interpreting engineering drawings, and inspecting precision machined components. Experience in aerospace, defense, precision engineering, or manufacturing industries will be an added advantage.
Key ResponsibilitiesCMM Inspection
- Perform dimensional inspection of precision machined components using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Operate and execute inspection programs on CMM equipment for first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Verify dimensional accuracy as per engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications.
Quality Inspection
- Conduct inspection of mechanical and precision-engineered components using measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Bore Gauge
- Dial Indicator
- Surface Plate
- Identify dimensional deviations and report non-conformities to the Quality Engineer.
Drawing Interpretation
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and manufacturing specifications.
- Understand and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles during inspection.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare CMM inspection reports and dimensional measurement records.
- Maintain inspection documentation as per ISO 9001/AS9100 quality standards.
- Record inspection results and update quality records accurately.
Equipment Maintenance
- Ensure proper calibration status and routine maintenance of CMM and measuring instruments.
- Follow standard operating procedures for safe and accurate equipment usage.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve dimensional issues.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality-related concerns.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Suggest improvements in inspection methods and measurement processes.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 1–2 years of experience in CMM operation and dimensional inspection.
Technical Skills Mandatory Skills
- Hands-on experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Engineering drawing interpretation
- Precision dimensional inspection
- First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Use of precision measuring instruments
- Preparation of inspection reports
- Basic understanding of ISO 9001/AS9100 quality systems
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, MODUS, or similar
- Exposure to CNC machined components
- Basic understanding of CAD models
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Knowledge of quality tools such as 7 QC Tools, CAPA, and 5 Why Analysis
