Role Context
WTI is seeking a Sociologist/Anthropologist to lead the "Forgotten Cats of Seinthuk" project. The role focuses on community mobilization, liaising with village councils (Garung Thuk), and conducting thematic studies to facilitate land setting-aside for conservation. As Project Head, you will be managerially responsible for all project outputs, budgets, and human resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement: Build rapport with local communities and village councils to align interventions with their aspirations.
- Project Management & Donor Co-ordination: Lead the implementation of the Project Implementation Plan (PIP) to ensure all outcomes and impacts are met & provide timely update to the Donor point person/s of the project
- Liaison: Coordinate with government departments, local NGOs, and key stakeholders in the region.
- Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, approve expenditures, and ensure judicious fund utilization.
- Monitoring & Planning: Prepare annual work plans, conduct quarterly reviews, and present progress in monthly meetings.
- Reporting & MIS: Collate qualitative/quantitative data for donor reports (CSR, Foundations) and scientific manuscripts.
- Team Leadership: Oversee performance reviews, address grievances, and ensure team building and capacity enhancement.
- Communication: Represent the organization at forums, interact with media, and provide project updates for branding needs.
Desired Requirements
- Education: M.Sc./Ph.D. in Sociology, Anthropology, or Development Studies.
- Experience: 5–7 years in Community-Based Natural Resource Management (NGO sector). Prior experience in Northeast India is highly valued.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in sociological/anthropological tools and analytical software (SPSS, R, etc.).
- Soft Skills: Proven expertise in grant management, technical reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
- Language: Strong written/verbal English; working knowledge of Hindi is desirable.
- Cultural Fit: Ability to thrive in a multi-tasking, multicultural, team-oriented environment.
