Job Summary
The PRT Computer Teacher will design and deliver age-appropriate lessons that simplify complex technical concepts. The goal is to ensure students become proficient in basic operations, creative software, and safe internet practices while maintaining an organized and functional computer laboratory.
Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & Curriculum Delivery
- Fundamental Skills: Teach basic hardware components, operating system navigation (Windows/macOS), and file management.
- Software Proficiency: Instruct students on using the MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) or Google Workspace.
- Introduction to Coding: Introduce logical thinking through block-based programming languages like Scratch or Blockly.
- Digital Citizenship: Educate students on internet safety, cyberbullying, and healthy screen time habits.
- Creative Tools: Guide students in using basic graphic design (MS Paint/Canva) and educational interactive tools.
2. Lab Management & Administration
- Maintenance: Oversee the daily operations of the computer lab, ensuring all systems and peripherals (keyboards, mice, printers) are in working order.
- Troubleshooting: Perform basic hardware and software troubleshooting or coordinate with the IT department for repairs.
- Lab Discipline: Enforce strict lab rules regarding equipment handling and software usage.
3. Academic Duties
- Lesson Planning: Develop engaging, activity-based lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum (CBSE).
- Assessment: Design and conduct practical and theoretical evaluations to track student progress.
- Reporting: Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to discuss student development and digital aptitude.
Qualifications & SkillsEssential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT (BCA, B.Sc. IT, or B.E./B.Tech) from a recognized university.
- Teaching Degree: A B.Ed. or D.El.Ed. is often preferred or mandatory for formal school settings in India.
- Language: Proficiency in English and Hindi (both written and verbal).
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, HTML, Python (Basics), or Scratch.
- Familiarity with Smart Class technologies and Educational Apps.
- Understanding of basic networking and hardware maintenance.
Soft Skills
- Patience: Ability to explain technical terms to children using simple analogies.
- Creativity: Designing gamified lessons to keep young students engaged.
- Organization: Managing class schedules and laboratory resources effectively.
Typical Experience Required
- 1–3 years of teaching experience in a primary school setting is generally preferred, though freshers with strong technical and communication skills are often considered for PRT roles.
