Job Description
Wipro is establishing a world-class AI Technology Innovation Center (TIC) to drive breakthrough AI research, accelerate AI-led business transformation, and commercialize next-generation AI solutions at global scale.
We are seeking an accomplished Head of AI Technology Innovation Center (TIC) / Director – AI Research to lead this strategic initiative. This role requires a visionary technology leader with deep expertise in AI research, innovation, product development, and enterprise-scale deployments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the AI vision, building a high-performance research organization, driving AI innovation, and translating cutting-edge research into business-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities͏
Define and drive the enterprise AI strategy, vision, and innovation roadmap.
Lead breakthrough research and development in Generative AI, LLMs, Multimodal AI, NLP, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning.
Build and scale a world-class AI Center of Excellence (CoE) to accelerate innovation and AI adoption across the organization.
Transform cutting-edge research into scalable AI products and solutions that deliver measurable business value.
Champion Responsible AI practices , governance, and ethical AI frameworks.
Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing AI teams comprising scientists, researchers, architects, and engineers.
Partner with business leaders, customers, academia, and industry experts to drive AI-led transformation and innovation.
Represent the organization as an AI thought leader through industry engagement, innovation, and strategic partnerships.
Shape the future of AI across global industries by delivering impactful, next-generation AI solutions.
͏Essential Expertise (Mandatory)
12–20+ years in technology leadership, with 5+ years in AI/ML and Generative AI.
Deep expertise in LLMs, Generative AI, NLP, Computer Vision, and modern AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).
Hands-on experience with cloud AI platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, GCP AI).
Strong understanding of MLOps/LLMOps, CI/CD for ML, and security in AI systems.
Proven success in:
Building and scaling AI teams and COEs
Commercializing AI products from research to market
Delivering enterprise-grade AI solutions with measurable impact
͏Research Leadership, Academic Excellence & Innovation Credentials (Mandatory)
Education: Master’s/Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI, IT, or related field from a top-tier institutes such as IIT, IISc, NIT, BITS, MIT, Stanford, CMU, ETH, NUS, NTU, or equivalent .
Research publications in top-tier AI conferences/journals such as NeruralIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI, and CVPR with demonstrated leadership in publishing top-tier research in LLMs, multimodal models or related areas.
Patents filed / granted with commercial impact is desired.
Recognized contributions to AI research, innovation, and intellectual property development.
Experience working with global research ecosystems, academia, and innovation networks.
