About the Role
We are looking for a technically strong and commercially driven professional to join our team and help develop new customers and applications across the polymers, rubber and specialty chemicals industry.
The ideal candidate will have a science/technical background combined with hands-on industry experience. This is not a conventional sales role. The person will work closely with customers to understand their technical requirements, recommend suitable materials, support formulation development and conduct product trials — ultimately converting technical opportunities into new business.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new customers across polymers, rubber, plastics and specialty chemical industries.
- Understand customer applications, formulations, processing requirements and technical challenges.
- Recommend appropriate raw materials, grades and products based on customer requirements.
- Work with customers on formulation development, product trials and technical evaluations.
- Coordinate and support trials at customer manufacturing facilities.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and work with customers to improve product performance or formulations.
- Convert successful trials and technical recommendations into commercial business.
- Develop strong relationships with R&D, formulation, purchase and technical teams at customer organizations.
- Identify new applications and market opportunities for our existing product portfolio.
- Work with principals/suppliers and internal teams to obtain technical information, samples and support.
- Maintain a pipeline of technical projects, trials and new customer opportunities.
- Track trial results, customer feedback and conversion into commercial orders.
- Keep up to date with developments in polymers, rubber, specialty chemicals and related applications.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Rubber Technology or a related technical field.
3-5 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in polymers, rubber, plastics or specialty chemicals.
- Strong understanding of industrial raw materials and their applications.
- Experience working with formulations, product trials and technical customer requirements.
- Ability to understand a customer's technical problem and translate it into a material/product recommendation.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Comfortable interacting with R&D, production, purchase and senior management teams.
- Commercially minded and able to turn technical opportunities into business.
- Willingness to travel for customer visits and trials.
Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following will be preferred:
Polymers | Rubber | Plastics | Silicone | Specialty Chemicals | Adhesives | Coatings | Inks | Masterbatch | Compounding | Industrial Chemicals
Experience with EPDM, PBR, SBR, NBR, silicone, carbon black, fillers, specialty additives or other polymer/rubber raw materials would be an advantage.
What Success Looks Like
The person will be measured not simply on the number of customer visits, but on their ability to:
Find new opportunities → Understand the application → Recommend the right material → Conduct successful trials → Solve technical problems → Convert trials into recurring business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining science, customer interaction and business development and wants to play a meaningful role in building new business for a growing specialty materials company.
