Job Summary
The Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care while supervising and guiding junior nursing staff. The role includes coordinating daily nursing activities, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and NABH standards, maintaining patient safety, assisting in clinical decision-making, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients across assigned units.
- Perform detailed patient assessments and formulate nursing care plans.
- Monitor patient progress and promptly escalate changes in clinical condition.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist consultants during examinations, procedures, and surgeries.
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, privacy, and safety throughout hospitalization.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform advanced nursing procedures as per competency, including:
- IV cannulation
- Urinary catheterization
- Nasogastric tube insertion
- Wound dressing
- Tracheostomy care
- Suctioning
- ECG recording
- Oxygen therapy
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and surgical procedures.
- Ensure emergency equipment and crash carts are fully functional and stocked.
- Participate actively in Code Blue and other emergency response situations.
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior nursing staff.
- Allocate duties and ensure adequate staffing during each shift.
- Monitor compliance with nursing protocols and hospital policies.
- Conduct effective shift handovers.
- Guide newly recruited nurses during orientation and training.
- Evaluate nursing performance and provide constructive feedback.
Documentation
- Ensure accurate and timely nursing documentation.
- Review patient records for completeness and compliance.
- Maintain medication records, nursing notes, and incident reports.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
Infection Prevention & Patient Safety
- Ensure strict compliance with infection prevention and control practices.
- Monitor hand hygiene and biomedical waste management.
- Report and investigate medication errors, falls, and adverse events.
- Promote a culture of patient safety and continuous improvement.
Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, physiotherapists, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, and other departments.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and discharge planning.
- Ensure smooth communication between patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Quality & NABH Compliance
- Ensure adherence to NABH standards, nursing protocols, and hospital quality indicators.
- Participate in quality audits and accreditation activities.
- Assist in implementing quality improvement projects.
- Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Monitor ward inventory, medicines, and consumables.
- Ensure proper maintenance of medical equipment.
- Prepare daily reports and nursing statistics.
- Assist the Nursing In-Charge in departmental operations.
- Participate in nursing meetings, continuing education programs, and staff development activities.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing or GNM from a recognized institution.
- Valid State Nursing Council registration.
- BLS certification (mandatory).
- ACLS certification preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting.
- Previous experience in ICU, Emergency, OT, or Ward supervision is preferred.

Pay: ₹12,934.86 - ₹25,000.00 per month
