We are looking for an experienced SQL Database Engineer to join our growing technology team. This role is suited for professionals who are passionate about building reliable, high-performance database environments and enjoy solving complex data challenges through thoughtful design and optimization.
The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in relational databases, database architecture, query optimization, and data management, while working collaboratively with development teams to deliver scalable and secure database solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable relational database solutions.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
- Create efficient database schemas, indexing strategies, and normalized data structures.
- Monitor database health and proactively improve performance through optimization techniques.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and availability across production environments.
- Perform database backup, recovery, replication, migration, and maintenance activities.
- Partner with software development teams to design effective data models and support application integration.
- Analyze functional requirements and translate them into efficient database designs.
- Investigate and resolve database-related issues to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
- Maintain database documentation, deployment standards, and technical best practices.
- Support database upgrades, deployments, and environment management.
- Implement database security standards and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
Required Technical Skills
- 6–7 years of professional experience in SQL database development and administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL programming, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and query writing.
- Proven expertise in query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of database design concepts, normalization, and relational data modeling.
- Experience with backup strategies, disaster recovery, replication, and database maintenance.
- Knowledge of ETL workflows and data migration methodologies.
- Familiarity with database security, permissions, and access management.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems is desirable.
- Exposure to cloud-hosted databases such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or Google Cloud SQL is an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of APIs and application integration concepts.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant database certifications will be considered an added advantage.
