JOB DESCRIPTION
Part Engineer – NPD
Location
Lucknow
Roles & Responsibilities
The Part Engineer is the central execution owner for assigned parts under development. The role is responsible for driving parts from feasibility through trials, qualification, and final release by coordinating multiple functions and maintaining disciplined follow-up on all technical and execution actions.
This role acts as the technical integrator between customer requirements and internal manufacturing capability.
Key Responsibilities:
· Own end-to-end technical execution of assigned castings from order confirmation through trial casting, industrialisation support, and final handover.
· Act as the day-to-day technical owner of the part, ensuring scope clarity, gate discipline, and on-time progression through the NPD stage-gate process.
· Lead detailed technical interpretation of customer drawings, specifications, tolerances, alloy requirements, and NDT criteria, resolving ambiguities through structured clarification loops.
· Drive coordination with Methoding, Simulation, Tooling, Pre-cast, Industrialisation, Quality, and Operations to ensure seamless execution without bypassing governance.
· Prepare, review, and maintain all part-level technical documentation including TCRs, gate readiness inputs, trial plans, and FAI technical packages.
· Support trial castings and early runs by analysing defects, dimensional deviations, and NDT outcomes, and driving structured corrective actions in collaboration with the Industrialisation Engineer.
· Ensure that all changes, deviations, and concessions are evaluated technically, documented correctly, and routed through the defined approval and escalation framework.
· Represent NPD in internal and customer-facing technical discussions related to part feasibility, trials, FAIs, and technical risk resolution, with support from Vertical Managers when required.
Experience:
· 3–7 years of experience in investment casting, aerospace manufacturing, or precision foundry environments with exposure to NPD or engineering-led production.
· Hands-on involvement in at least part of the NPD lifecycle, including trials, defect analysis, dimensional evaluation, or FAI support.
· Experience working in cross-functional environments involving engineering, quality, operations, and tooling teams is strongly preferred.
· Prior experience in aerospace, defence, or high-integrity manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
Functional & Technical Expertise:
· Strong understanding of investment casting fundamentals, including geometry-driven risks, feeding behaviour, shelling sensitivity, and defect mechanisms.
· Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, material specifications, and customer quality requirements.
· Working knowledge of NPD stage-gate execution, technical documentation discipline, and change management in controlled manufacturing environments.
· Capability to analyse dimensional reports, NCRs, and NDT findings and translate them into clear technical actions and escalation points.
· Comfortable operating in a structured, multi-stakeholder environment with clear ownership, accountability, and decision boundaries.
· Detail-oriented, execution-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple parts in parallel without loss of technical rigor.
