JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: CMM Programmer & Quality Inspector
Department: Quality Assurance
Location: LGB Forge Ltd., Coimbatore
Reporting To: Quality Manager / Quality Engineer
Job Purpose
To carry out dimensional inspection of components using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), develop and execute CMM inspection programs, analyse measurement results, and ensure products meet drawing, customer and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CMM equipment for dimensional inspection of forged and machined components.
- Create, modify and execute CMM inspection programs as per component drawings and inspection requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances and specifications.
- Perform dimensional inspection using CMM and other precision measuring instruments.
- Prepare and maintain CMM inspection reports and measurement records.
- Verify critical dimensions, geometrical tolerances, profile, position, concentricity, flatness and other GD&T characteristics.
- Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection as required.
- Identify dimensional deviations and communicate non-conformities to the concerned department.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues.
- Maintain CMM equipment, fixtures, probes and accessories in good working condition.
- Ensure proper calibration status of measuring instruments and CMM equipment.
- Maintain inspection records as per the Quality Management System requirements.
- Support customer inspection, new product development and PPAP activities, wherever required.
- Coordinate with Production, Tool Room, Engineering and Quality teams for dimensional issues.
- Follow company safety, quality and housekeeping requirements.
- Participate in internal/customer audits and provide required measurement records and data.
Technical Skills Required
- Good knowledge of CMM operation and programming.
- Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, etc.
- Ability to analyse CMM measurement reports and identify deviations.
- Knowledge of inspection methods and quality standards.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain inspection records.
- Knowledge of CMM software such as PC-DMIS / CALYPSO / MODUS will be an advantage.
Qualification
- Diploma / ITI / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Candidates with relevant CMM inspection experience will be preferred.
Experience
2–5 years of experience in CMM operation/programming in an automotive, forging or machining industry.
Freshers with strong knowledge of GD&T and CMM may also be considered for a trainee-level position.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
