Job Summary
The File & Print Administrator (L2) is responsible for managing, troubleshooting, and maintaining enterprise File & Print services. The role includes advanced incident resolution, infrastructure administration, access management, performance optimization, and support for File & Print environments across Windows Server platforms. The administrator serves as an escalation point for L1 teams and ensures high availability, security, and compliance of services. Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Administration Administer and maintain Windows File Servers and Print Servers. Manage Distributed File System (DFS), DFS Replication (DFSR), and file share configurations. Configure and manage file shares, permissions, quotas, and storage allocations. Administer enterprise print servers, printer deployments, and print queues. Perform server health monitoring, patch validation, and capacity planning activities. Incident & Problem Management Handle complex File & Print incidents escalated from L1 teams. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues. Resolve issues related to file access, permissions, DFS replication, print spooling, and printer connectivity. Coordinate with Storage, Network, AD, and Server teams for issue resolution. Participate in major incident management activities. Access & Security Management Manage NTFS and Share permissions following security policies. Implement role-based access controls (RBAC). Review and audit file access permissions periodically. Support compliance, security audits, and remediation activities. Ensure adherence to security and governance standards. Change & Release Management Execute planned changes and maintenance activities. Conduct impact analysis and risk assessment for infrastructure changes. Support migration projects involving File & Print services. Participate in disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity activities. Monitoring & Performance Optimization Monitor server utilization, storage consumption, and service availability. Optimize DFS replication and file server performance. Analyze trends and recommend infrastructure improvements. Maintain monitoring dashboards and operational reports. Documentation & Knowledge Management Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and knowledge articles. Update configuration and asset information. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to L1 administrators. Required Technical Skills Core Skills Strong knowledge of Windows Server Administration (2016/2019/2022). Hands-on experience with File Server and Print Server management. Expertise in NTFS Permissions, Share Permissions, and Access Control. Experience with DFS Namespace and DFS Replication. Administration of enterprise print management solutions. Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy Management. Additional Skills PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting. Understanding of Storage Concepts (SAN/NAS). Experience with monitoring tools such as SCOM, SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar. Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions. Knowledge of ITIL-based service management processes. Educational Qualification Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Microsoft certifications are preferred (Windows Server, Azure, or related technologies). Experience 3–5 years of experience in File & Print Administration, Windows Server Administration, or Infrastructure Support.
