Job Description –
We are seeking a passionate, organized, and student-centered Assistant Librarian to support the Primary Years Programme (PYP) library operations and foster a love for reading, inquiry, and research among young learners. The ideal candidate should be familiar with the IB philosophy and committed to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment within the library.
Key ResponsibilitiesLibrary Management & Operations
- Assist in the day-to-day management and smooth functioning of the Primary Library.
- Organize, catalogue, issue, and maintain library resources including books, digital resources, and learning materials.
- Ensure proper shelving, inventory management, and upkeep of library collections.
- Support procurement, accessioning, and maintenance of library materials.
- Maintain accurate records of circulation, memberships, and library databases.
Student Support & Learning
- Encourage reading habits and promote literacy among primary students.
- Assist students in locating and selecting age-appropriate books and resources.
- Support inquiry-based learning aligned with the IB PYP framework.
- Help students develop research, referencing, and information literacy skills.
- Conduct storytelling sessions, reading programs, and library engagement activities.
Collaboration & Curriculum Support
- Work closely with PYP teachers to support classroom units of inquiry and curriculum needs.
- Assist in curating resources for classroom projects, exhibitions, and learning engagements.
- Support the integration of technology and digital resources within the library program.
- Participate in school events, book fairs, author visits, and literacy initiatives.
Administration & Coordination
- Maintain a welcoming, safe, and organized library environment.
- Assist in preparing reports, library statistics, and resource inventories.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for library-related requirements.
- Ensure adherence to school policies and library procedures.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science / Library & Information Science or relevant field
- Experience working in a school library, preferably in an IB or international school environment
- Familiarity with children’s literature and primary education practices preferred
- Strong computer and digital literacy skills

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
