Procurement Executive – Transportation & Freight

About D and D Express Logistics
D and D Express Logistics Pvt. Ltd. is an Indore-based transportation and logistics company engaged in arranging open-body trucks for customers across different routes in India.
We are expanding our procurement team and are looking for energetic and responsible Procurement Executives who can source vehicles from the market, negotiate competitive rates and ensure timely vehicle placement.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive daily vehicle requirements from the Operations Team.
- Search for suitable open-body trucks through fleet owners, transporters, brokers and market contacts.
- Call and negotiate with vehicle owners and brokers to obtain competitive freight rates.
- Confirm vehicle availability, type, capacity, location and reporting time.
- Share suitable vehicle options and rates with the Procurement Manager/Operations Team.
- Ensure the confirmed vehicle reaches the loading point on time.
- Follow up with the owner/driver until successful reporting.
- Maintain records of quoted and finalised freight rates.
- Build and maintain relationships with fleet owners and transporters.
- Identify new transporters and brokers for different routes.
- Maintain route-wise supplier and rate information.
- Handle urgent vehicle requirements and replacement vehicles.
- Coordinate with the Operations Team regarding vehicle reporting and loading status.
- Update vehicle/order status regularly in the company's system or Excel/Google Sheets.
- Escalate vehicle cancellations, delays or other operational issues immediately.
Daily Responsibilities
The candidate will primarily be responsible for:
Requirement Received → Market Search → Rate Negotiation → Vehicle Confirmation → Vehicle Reporting → Handover to Operations
The role requires extensive calling and coordination with transporters, brokers, vehicle owners and drivers.
Candidate Profile
Experience:
- 0–3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight booking, sales or operations.
- Freshers with excellent communication and negotiation skills may also apply.
- Candidates with experience in transport offices, truck booking, fleet operations or brokerage will be preferred.
Skills Required:
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Comfortable making a high volume of phone calls.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel/Google Sheets.
- Good knowledge of WhatsApp and smartphone applications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good follow-up skills.
- Ability to negotiate rates confidently.
- Strong sense of urgency and responsibility.
- Hindi communication is essential; knowledge of English is preferred.

- Number of vehicles successfully procured.

- Supplier network developed.
- Accuracy of information provided.
- Cancellation/replacement rate.
Compensation
Salary: Competitive and based on experience and skills.
