Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Maintenance
- Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of CNC, VMC, HMC, VTL, turning, milling, drilling, grinding, honing, and other machine-shop equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and control-related machine problems.
- Maintain machine accuracy, alignment, spindle condition, lubrication, and overall performance.
- Attend emergency breakdowns and restore machines within minimum possible downtime.
- Coordinate with production during machine breakdowns, changeovers, and planned shutdowns.
2. Valve Component Manufacturing Equipment
- Maintain machines used for machining valve bodies, bonnets, stems, seats, discs, shafts, and other valve components.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic power packs, pumps, cylinders, solenoid valves, pneumatic systems, sensors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, ball screws, guideways, and spindle assemblies.
- Support maintenance of special-purpose machines and automated machining systems used in valve manufacturing.
3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Prepare and execute daily, weekly, monthly, and annual PM schedules.
- Monitor machine condition and identify potential failures before breakdown.
- Analyse breakdown trends and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for repetitive machine failures.
- Improve MTBF and reduce MTTR and overall machine downtime.
- Maintain machine history cards, PM checklists, breakdown records, and maintenance reports.
4. CNC & Automation Support
- Troubleshoot CNC machine-related issues involving controllers, drives, servo motors, sensors, encoders, limit switches, and control circuits.
- Coordinate with OEM/service engineers for complex CNC, PLC, hydraulic, and automation problems.
- Support machine installation, commissioning, modification, and retrofit activities.
5. Spares & Maintenance Planning
- Identify critical machine spares and maintain adequate inventory.
- Monitor consumption of bearings, belts, sensors, hydraulic components, lubricants, electrical components, and other maintenance spares.
- Prepare spare-parts requirements and coordinate with purchase/stores teams.
- Maintain records of spare replacement and maintenance costs.
6. Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability, productivity, and OEE.
- Implement TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and preventive-maintenance improvements.
- Reduce recurring failures, unplanned downtime, energy consumption, and maintenance costs.
- Recommend machine modifications or upgrades where required.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed according to safety procedures.
- Follow LOTO, electrical safety, PPE, machine guarding, and safe-work practices.
- Ensure housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained in the machine shop.
- Support internal, customer, and ISO/QMS audits with required maintenance records.
8. Team & Vendor Coordination
- Supervise technicians and allocate maintenance activities according to priority.
- Coordinate with machine OEMs, service providers, and contractors.
- Guide technicians in troubleshooting and preventive-maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Tool Room, Stores, and Engineering departments.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of CNC/VMC/HMC/VTL machine maintenance.
- Good understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, bearings, gearboxes, and spindle systems.
- Basic-to-good knowledge of CNC controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi.
- Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
- Knowledge of machine alignment, levelling, backlash, spindle runout, and machine accuracy.
- Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of TPM, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, 5S, and Kaizen.
Educational & Experience Requirements
- Diploma / B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in machine maintenance.
- Experience in valve, automotive, precision engineering, or similar manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machine maintenance is highly desirable.

Preferred Candidate Profile
A hands-on Maintenance Engineer with strong troubleshooting skills, preferably having experience in CNC machine maintenance and valve-component manufacturing, who can independently handle breakdowns, preventive maintenance, RCA, spare management, and reliability improvement while supporting production targets.
