Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and target-oriented Sales Manager to lead our travel sales team and drive business growth across Domestic & International Holidays, FIT, Group Tours, Corporate Travel and other travel products.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in travel sales, excellent knowledge of the tourism industry, proven team-handling abilities, and a demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets.
The candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing key clients, improving lead conversion, mentoring the sales team, and achieving monthly and annual revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities1. Sales & Revenue Management
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
- Take complete ownership of the team's sales performance and revenue generation.
- Drive sales of Domestic and International holiday packages, FIT, Group Tours, Honeymoon Packages, MICE and other travel products.
- Monitor daily sales activities, enquiries, conversions, bookings and revenue.
- Identify gaps in sales performance and implement corrective actions.
- Maximize revenue, profitability and repeat business.
2. Team Management
- Lead, motivate and manage the sales team to achieve individual and team targets.
- Set clear sales targets and KPIs for team members.
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
- Monitor individual productivity, follow-ups, conversions and closures.
- Coach team members on sales techniques, destination knowledge, negotiation and closing skills.
- Identify training requirements and continuously improve team performance.
3. Lead Management & Conversion
- Ensure proper distribution and timely follow-up of leads among sales executives.
- Monitor the complete lead-to-booking conversion process.
- Improve enquiry conversion through effective follow-up strategies.
- Track lost leads and identify reasons for non-conversion.
- Ensure every qualified enquiry is followed up systematically until closure.
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline and CRM records.
4. Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in the travel market.
- Build relationships with corporate clients, travel agents, institutions, companies, groups and individual customers.
- Develop B2B and B2C sales channels.
- Generate business through networking, referrals, corporate meetings, travel events and industry contacts.
- Explore new markets, destinations and customer segments.
- Develop strategic partnerships to increase business opportunities.
5. Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Handle key accounts and high-value customers.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable travel solutions.
- Ensure excellent customer service throughout the sales process.
- Handle escalations and coordinate with Operations to resolve customer concerns.
- Focus on repeat business, referrals and long-term client relationships.
6. Sales Planning & Reporting
- Prepare monthly and annual sales plans.
- Prepare sales forecasts and revenue projections.
- Monitor sales KPIs including:
- Number of enquiries
- Lead conversion rate
- Number of bookings
- Revenue generated
- Average booking value
- Individual/team achievement
- Repeat business
- Submit regular sales performance reports to management.
- Analyse competitor activities, market trends and customer behaviour.
7. Product & Destination Knowledge
- Maintain strong knowledge of Domestic and International destinations, tour packages, hotels, sightseeing, visa requirements and travel products.
- Work closely with the Product and Operations teams to develop attractive and competitive packages.
- Ensure the sales team is updated about new destinations, packages, offers and promotions.
8. Marketing Coordination
- Coordinate with the Marketing/Digital Marketing team for lead-generation campaigns.
- Provide feedback on lead quality and campaign performance.
- Suggest new offers, destinations and campaigns based on market demand.
- Participate in travel exhibitions, B2B meets, corporate events and promotional activities.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Sales within the Travel & Tourism industry.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Sales Manager / Team Lead / Senior Sales role is preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in selling Domestic or International tour packages is highly preferred.
- Experience in handling and leading a sales team.
- Strong B2B/B2C sales and business development experience.
- Candidates with an established network of corporate clients, travel agents or high-value customers will have an advantage.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Travel & Tourism, Hospitality or a related field.
- MBA in Sales/Marketing or Travel & Tourism will be an added advantage.
