Role Overview
We are looking for a CNC Machine Operator with experience in structural steel fabrication to operate CNC cutting and drilling equipment, ensuring accurate, efficient, and high-quality profile cutting and hole-making across all incoming plate and section material.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC plasma/oxy-fuel cutting machines and CNC drilling lines (beam/plate) as per production requirements
- Load, interpret, and run CNC programs and nesting files for plates and sections
- Set up and adjust machine parameters (cutting speed, gas pressure, torch height, feed rate) for optimal cut quality
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, cutting plans, and nesting layouts
- Handle and position raw material (plates, beams, channels) safely for machining
- Monitor cut quality, dimensional accuracy, and edge finish; flag deviations
- Optimize nesting and material utilization to minimize scrap and wastage
- Perform routine machine upkeep and replace consumables (nozzles, electrodes, drill bits)
- Maintain cutting logs, production records, and consumption documentation
- Coordinate with planning and production teams to meet dispatch schedules
- Follow all plant safety and housekeeping standards
Requirements
- 3+ years experience operating CNC cutting/drilling machines in structural steel / PEB fabrication
- ITI / Diploma in a relevant trade preferred
- Working knowledge of CNC cutting/nesting software and machine controls
- Familiarity with plate grades, section types, and measuring/inspection tools
- Understanding of cut-quality defects and corrective adjustments
- Detail-oriented, disciplined, and safety-conscious work approach
