Job Summary
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering physical education programs that promote students' physical fitness, health awareness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and overall well-being. The teacher creates a safe and inclusive learning environment while encouraging active participation in sports and physical activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with the school's curriculum.
- Teach a variety of sports, fitness activities, and movement skills.
- Assess and evaluate student performance, progress, and participation.
- Adapt lessons to accommodate different learning abilities and physical capabilities.
- Promote healthy lifestyles, fitness, and wellness among students.
Student Development
- Encourage teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship.
- Identify and nurture students with athletic potential.
- Provide guidance on physical fitness and injury prevention.
- Support students' social and emotional development through sports and physical activities.
Sports & Extracurricular Activities
- Organize and supervise school sports events, tournaments, and competitions.
- Coach school teams for inter-school and external competitions.
- Coordinate sports practices and training sessions.
- Assist in planning annual sports days and other fitness-related events.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure student safety during all physical activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and follow safety protocols.
- Maintain sports equipment and facilities in good condition.
- Administer basic first aid when required and report injuries appropriately.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain attendance, assessment records, and progress reports.
- Communicate student progress with parents and school administration.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
- Assist with other school responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Teaching certification/license as required by local regulations.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR (preferred).
- Experience teaching physical education in a school setting is preferred.
