An Electrical Engineer in a transformer manufacturing company designs, builds, and tests electrical transformers. They evaluate customer specifications, calculate electrical and magnetic parameters, develop schematics, and ensure the final products meet safety regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Engineering: Prepare detailed electrical designs, including calculations for losses, impedance, short-circuit forces, and thermal performance.
- Customer & Sales Support: Translate customer requirements and tender specifications into feasible manufacturing plans and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Design and oversee routine and type tests (e.g., High-Pot (Hipot) testing) to verify the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the transformers.
- Manufacturing Support: Provide technical instructions to the shop floor, assist with troubleshooting, and implement design optimizations to reduce costs.
- Compliance: Ensure all designs and manufacturing procedures adhere to industry guidelines such as IEEE, IEC, ANSI, or IS standards.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
- Experience: Prior hands-on experience (ranging from entry-level to 2+ years) in designing, testing, or manufacturing power and distribution transformers.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering software like AutoCAD, MATLAB, or specialized transformer design and simulation tools.
- Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of magnetic circuits, insulating materials (like CRGO), and high-voltage dielectric principles.
