An English Teacher is responsible for developing students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in the English language while fostering critical thinking and a love for literature.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the curriculum
- Teach grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and literature
- Prepare lesson plans, worksheets, and teaching materials
- Assess students through tests, assignments, projects, and oral work
- Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on students’ performance
- Improve students’ communication and language proficiency
- Encourage reading habits and creative writing
- Manage classroom discipline and maintain a positive learning environment
- Identify learning difficulties and provide extra support when needed
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods in lessons
Administrative & Professional Duties
- Maintain student records, attendance, and assessment reports
- Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and workshops
- Communicate with parents regarding students’ progress
- Assist in examination duties and school activities
- Follow school policies and educational guidelines

Educational Qualifications (Typical)
- Bachelor’s degree in English
- B.Ed. or teaching certification (for school teaching)
