Position Summary
The Project Manager – Data Center Delivery is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of data center construction and infrastructure projects This mid-level leadership role focuses on coordinating design, construction, commissioning, and handover activities.
The role requires strong technical understanding of mission-critical facilities, effective client communication, and hands-on coordination with contractors and specialist vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with quality and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Management
- Manage assigned data center projects through all phases, from design coordination to construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Implement project execution plans, schedules, and reporting frameworks in line with PMC standards.
- Monitor project progress against agreed milestones and support corrective actions where required.
- Coordinate design development, reviews, and approvals across consultants and client teams.
- Identify project risks and issues, maintain risk registers, and support mitigation actions.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, technical requirements, safety policies, and statutory regulations.
- Support commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and readiness-for-operations activities.
- Administer change management processes and ensure scope alignment.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for day-to-day client interactions.
- Support senior leadership in managing client relationships and expectations.
- Prepare and deliver regular project status reports, dashboards, and meeting minutes.
- Facilitate clear communication and coordination between client teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Support issue resolution and escalation management in a timely and professional manner.
Contractor & Consultant Coordination
- Coordinate multidisciplinary consultants including architects, engineers, and specialist advisors.
- Manage day-to-day interface with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Monitor contractor performance against agreed schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Lead coordination meetings, technical workshops, and site progress reviews.
- Identify and resolve design, construction, and interface issues across disciplines.
- Promote collaboration and a “one-team” approach across all project stakeholders.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Support implementation of project-specific quality assurance and safety plans.
- Monitor compliance with local regulations, codes, and industry standards.
- Participate in site inspections, audits, and reviews.
- Ensure timely close-out of defects, non-conformances, and punch lists.
Technical Skills & Expertise
Data Center–Specific Knowledge
- Mission-critical and data center infrastructure projects.
- Electrical systems: UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, and redundancy concepts.
- Mechanical and cooling systems: CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, containment strategies.
- Fire detection, suppression, and life safety systems.
- Structured cabling, IT infrastructure, and network pathways.
- Understanding of Uptime Institute Tier standards.
- Familiarity with DCIM systems and operational readiness concepts.
Project Management Skills
- Working knowledge of PMI, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management methodologies.
- Proficiency in project scheduling and tracking tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site management practices.
- Experience supporting commissioning and integrated testing processes.
- Effective document control and reporting skills.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
- Data center–specific certifications (e.g., Uptime Institute ATD, CDCP) are an advantage.
Experience
- 20–25 years of experience in project management or construction management.
- Direct experience delivering data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
