Job Summary
The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, including managing petty cash, maintaining financial records, processing accounting entries, and assisting the Accounts Manager in various finance and compliance activities. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with internal departments and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage the petty cash fund, including disbursement, recording, and periodic reconciliation.
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and pass accounting entries in the ERP/accounting system.
- Assist the Accounts Manager in preparing vouchers, invoices, payment records, and supporting documents.
- Verify and process employee reimbursement claims and vendor bills.
- Coordinate with the Purchase and Stores departments for invoice verification and Goods Receipt Note (GRN) reconciliation.
- Assist in the preparation of bank reconciliation statements and petty cash reconciliation.
- Maintain proper records and filing of accounting documents, invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
- Support monthly closing activities and provide data for MIS and financial reporting.
- Assist in statutory compliance activities, including GST, TDS, and audit documentation.
- Coordinate with internal departments to resolve accounting and payment-related queries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Accounts Manager as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com), Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical industry.
- Freshers with strong accounting knowledge and internship experience may also be considered.
Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping.
- Hands-on experience in handling petty cash management and expense tracking.
- Basic understanding of GST, TDS, and statutory accounting requirements.
- Proficiency in Tally ERP, SAP, or other accounting software.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle financial data responsibly.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
A detail-oriented B.Com graduate with experience in petty cash handling, accounting entries, and finance support, capable of assisting the Accounts Manager in the smooth functioning of the Accounts & Finance department within a chemical manufacturing plant.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹400,000.00 per year
