We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The candidate will be involved in day-to-day accounting, GST and tax compliances, reconciliations, preparation of financial statements, and supporting audit and consultancy assignments.
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in accounting and statutory compliance, preferably gained in a Chartered Accountancy firm, and should be comfortable coordinating with clients and handling routine assignments independently.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain books of accounts for clients on a day-to-day basis.
- Record sales, purchases, receipts, payments, expenses, journal entries, and other accounting transactions.
- Maintain and review ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts.
- Assist in preparation of Trial Balance, Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, and other financial statements.
- Assist in year-end finalisation of accounts and pass necessary adjustment entries.
- Review books of accounts for basic errors and discrepancies.
GST & Tax Compliance
- Assist in preparation and filing of GST returns, including GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B.
- Perform GSTR-2B and purchase reconciliation and assist in verification of Input Tax Credit.
- Assist in preparation and filing of Income Tax Returns for individuals, firms, LLPs, and companies.
- Assist in preparation of tax computations and related workings.
- Assist in TDS return preparation and filing.
- Reconcile TDS balances with Form 26AS/AIS, wherever required.
- Assist in responding to routine GST and Income Tax queries/notices.
- Maintain records of tax and statutory filings and ensure timely completion of assigned work.
Reconciliations
- Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Reconcile customer, vendor, and other ledger balances.
- Identify differences and coordinate with clients for necessary corrections.
- Assist in GST and TDS reconciliations.
Audit Support
- Assist senior team members in statutory, tax, and internal audits.
- Prepare audit schedules, ledgers, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with clients for information and documents required for audit.
- Assist in resolving routine audit queries and discrepancies.
- Support the team during year-end audit and finalisation work.
Client Coordination
- Coordinate with clients for collection of accounting data, invoices, bank statements, and supporting documents.
- Follow up with clients for pending information and compliance requirements.
- Handle routine accounting and taxation-related queries from clients.
- Maintain professional communication with clients through email and telephone.
- Keep the senior team informed about pending information and assignment status.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare basic Excel-based workings, schedules, and reports.
- Assist in ROC/MCA-related work, wherever required.
- Assist senior team members in preparing reports and other client deliverables.
- Keep track of assigned work and statutory deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Perform other accounting and compliance-related work as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B.Com), Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, taxation, or audit.
- Prior experience in a Chartered Accountancy firm will be preferred.
- Good understanding of accounting principles, GST, TDS, and Income Tax.
- Practical experience in bookkeeping and preparation of financial statements.
- Knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards / Ind AS will be an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Good working knowledge of Tally / Tally Prime or similar accounting software.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel.
- Familiarity with GST and Income Tax portals.
- Basic knowledge of MS Word and other MS Office applications.
