Job Title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Job Summary
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and reviewing electrical systems for industrial, infrastructure or manufacturing projects. This role involves leading design activities, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems
- Power distribution systems
- Lighting systems
- Control and automation systems
- Earthing and lightning protection systems
- Low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) systems
- Prepare and review:
- Single-line diagrams (SLDs)
- Electrical layouts
- Cable schedules
- Load calculations
- Panel schedules
- Wiring diagrams
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Perform electrical calculations such as:
- Cable sizing
- Voltage drop
- Short-circuit analysis
- Protection coordination
- Load flow analysis
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, or local regulations).
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, instrumentation, and project teams to integrate electrical systems.
- Review vendor drawings and technical submittals.
- Support procurement by preparing technical specifications and evaluating vendor proposals.
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work for quality and accuracy.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, FAT/SAT, and client meetings.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma (EEE)/Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5-10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering.
- Experience in industrial plants, oil & gas, power, utilities, manufacturing projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and international standards.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD Electrical
- EPLAN
- ETAP
- SKM PowerTools
- Dialux
- Revit MEP (preferred)
- Microsoft Office
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, VFDs, and motor control systems is desirable.
- Familiarity with electrical protection systems and relay coordination.
- Understanding of renewable energy systems (solar, battery storage, etc.) is an added advantage.
